Are You Bored Outta Your Gourd? (3)

Don't know what to read next or even where to start looking? Try checking out this neat guide. It's got reviews from librarians, authors, and teenagers; what to read next suggestion boxes; polls and special pages set aside for the most popular books of certain genres like fantasy, pink lit, etc.
Still not impressed? Did I mention that there's 700 YA and adult books to choose from?!
Okay, breath now.....there's more. In addition to polls and genre pages, they also threw in reading lists here and there.
Darn it! Where was this book when I was stumped on what to read! Good thing it's around to help you now, though.
You can order this book on amazon or try finding it at your library today!

Hey! What are you still doing here?
Oh. You need more book suggestions?
Okay, try these books as well:

With this month's Bored Book I didn't have to look far. Wreck This Journal has been on my wishlist for almost a year now and very soon I will have it my hands. [Go Amazon!] Wreck This Journal by Kari Smith is basically a book that you literally reak havoc on while being well, creative! You can burn it, poke holes, doodle, collect fruit stickers, or whatever a certain pages says to do. Did I mention you can also take it for a walk in Central Park?

Cool huh? For more pictures and info click here. Gonna get one? Let me know! When I get my journal you'll be the first to know and the first to see what kind of creative disaster I can pull.........

Are You Bored Outta Your Gourd?

This Month's Bored Outta Your Gourd Featured Book

Every month B.L.T. features BOYG (yeah, I know I'm insanely addicted to abbreviations). This booky muse explores the world of the non-fictiony, those books at the library labeled "odd-sized", and other books worth your while. Plus we keep the "theme" of this special book all month!-this means, ladies and gents, you get the pleasure of being bombarded with theme related stuff!

March's "Bored" book is called Chasing Lincoln's Killer by James Swanson, which is based on his adult book, Manhunt

Last summer I developed an interest in John Wilkes Booth after reading Good Brother, Bad Brother by James Cross Giblin. (In the future I will probably post a review on this book)

Since then, I have been on the look-out for more "Booth" related books.  So maybe right now you're asking yourself why in the world would this person like stuff about Booth, President Lincoln's Killer?

Actually, knowing the history and facts behind what caused Booth to kill Lincoln is quite handy.

Watch this.

Did you know that John Wilkes Booth's older brother, Edwin Booth was a famous actor in the U.S as well as England? Did you know that John Wilkes Booth was a favored actor in Richmond, VA and because he knew a theater so well, he managed to make a quick escape after the assassination.

Did you know that the saying "Your name is Mudd" comes from the name of Dr. Samuel Mudd who merely fixed Booth's injured ankle (not knowing about the assassination). Boy would everybody give you a hard time back then if your last name was Mudd.

Good Brother, Bad Brother only told the story of the Booth family through Edwin's eyes. It did not really answer my questions about why Wilkes did it [the assassination] and if he was the mastermind or merely a pawn. Am I the only one who thinks about this stuff? Is there anyone out there who has some questions like this too? Please comment...... :)

Anyways I am hoping that Chasing Lincoln's Killer will answer my questions. Well there you have it, B.L.T.'s second "Bored" book. Hope you're looking forward to more Booth/Civil War theme books......

This book was recently released in February 2009.
